It was quite windy and the rain hit the windows really hard. The wind tinkled the lamp. I recorded this sound by positioning a rode nt1 a few decimeters away from the lamp. You can hear some talking in the background. Recommended audio edit: low cut at 30 hz and soft high cut (6db/oct)starting at 1. 5khz.

A light rain recorded in a suburban forest trail area near a creek. Many birds and natural sounds fill the foreground while the sound of a road, neighborhood, lawnmower and faint voices can be heard in the distance.

This is a rainfall recording for 3 hours from 14th september 2014 over pécel, hungary. I recorded this by my sony stereo dicatphone for tealc166 but of course everyone can listen to it.

Zoom h4n - onboard microphones. This recording was captured in the city of orange in orange county, california. This is located just below los angeles and less than a mile from disneyland in anaheim. This is an extremely clean recording of a sudden cloudburst that turned in to a torrential downpour on december 28, 2020. The peaks are all very close to 0db. I opened the sliding glass door to our balcony and placed my zoom h4n as close as possible to the rain without destroying the recorder. What resulted is an amazingly layered rain track. This is because rain can be heard striking multiple surfaces such as a tree, a metal table, the cement balcony, etc. . . There is not much thunder (that's rare in this area) but if you need a few dramatic thunder claps they can be found at the following times one the file is downloaded. A thunderstorm in munich, recorded 2020-07-01 in my backyard on second floor on a balcony. It rains, the strikes come closer, then they go away, the rain recedes. Some backyard noise, faint traffic and tram. One time you here me sighing (sorry). Some minimal clipping at thunder peaks, sorry again, but i think it's very usable anyway and contains a lot of material. Recorded with: tascam dr-05, 96khz, 24bit, flacmy own recording, cc0 public domain.

The exciting thing about recording and cataloging natural sounds is how you get nice, unexpected surprises. I was up early recently one spring day and did not have any real plans to record, until i stepped outside with my coffee to see what the weather was like and was nicely surprised with the light, steady spring rain that was falling in my yard; during the whole time this energetic carolina wren kept on singing through the rain. I rain, got my recorder and recorded a full hour of this peaceful pattering. You hear the drops hitting the concrete patio, the shingled overhang and a plastic chair. Zoom h4n recorder using the stereo built-in mics.

A digitally created thunderstorm using a yamaha keyboard. The clip last for about 2 minutes. The rain isn't heard until the end and doesn't start until like a minute and thirty seconds in or so and lasts for only about 30 seconds. Recorded with a yamaha keyboard and audacity. My fourth recording.

Thunder with water falling on cement, crackling bright sound of water hitting hard floor, spatial environment, ambience. Recorded with the tascam dr-40 built-in microphones in stereo, processed in pro tools 10, bounced to a 48khz 24bit wav file.

Recorded in stockholm a rainy summer day. Standing on the 6th floor recording from the balcony. The storm starts close and moves away from the mic. I picked up some cars in the clip, and the neighbours shouts at 09:10. Recorded with a zoom h6 in stereo.

Finally, a month after i needed it for my last film, i got really good foley of a spectacular thunderstorm. Here's 10 min of the best part. I can't use it right now, but maybe others can. It contains steady, heavy rain with peals of thunder at various distances.

Very strong rain with heavy thunders nearby, wind through leaves, some traffic. Recorded on my balcony, at zagreb, first floor, 48-24, tascam dr-05, ortf stereo.

Normalized +5db, then down-sampled to 44khz/16bit. This is the ogg vorbis file (q: 60%). There is also a flac version (lossless 100mb).

Recorded just after midnight on the 4th of july 2015 during a heavy storm across southern england. The occasional rumbles of thunder came from about 50 kilometers away. The intensity of the rain slowly fades over the length of the recording. Marantz pmd-661 with internal mics.

This is a recording of a storm from the balcony of the living room in the province of rieti in italy on wednesday 8 september 2021, where various noises such as lightning, thunder, heavy rain, a bit of wind and even an ambulance and a bulldozer working in distance. This recording was done with the shure mv88 plus stereo microphone connected to my iphone 12 pro.

This caught my attention as an unfamiliar sound, and i actually had to investigate to learn what it was. It was the raindrops hitting some styrofoam bodyboards near a swimming pool, which at times sounded almost more like a hollow "pop" than a "drip. ". In the background one can hear thunder, rain, and the humming of a pool filtration system. Recorded with an iphone 7.

It was raining today and i heard the frogs, decided to record some ambience. So it's just the rain on the street outside my house with the occasional gray tree frog mating call going on too. In this sample you hear a recording from inside a well sound insulated room, directly under the roof of a house. Strong rain hints the roof and produces low frequency muted sounds. In the background you hear the constant noise of the rain, coming through the window. There are also a few raindrops hitting the glass of the window. The sample was recorded using the built-in stereo microphone of a zoom h4n recorder. It was slightly processed to remove unwanted low and high frequencies which were not related to the actual recording.
